Eden Welfare is partnering and managing spaces while educating larger bodies in order to maximize potential support supplied. The Queer, Kink & Ethically Non-Monogamous Communities intersect with one another in such a way that we need to streamline and minimize the harm that can be done.
Communities within Queer and Kink circles have been forced to self police for decades.
A lack of governmental support and laws made to specifically restrict these communities means that those within either must ignore harm or look to police their friends. The same laws that have been made to demonise our cultures are the same used to idealise silence from those in risk. A lack of solid reporting protocol and generalised banning over support and repair systems are major influences for damage.
Harm Reductionist theory is the idea that harm will occur and that, at the same time, we can minimise it.
Risk Aware Consensual Kink is a standard we ask kink communities to focus in on, yet we give no patience for when the Risk can occur. When planning for a party, why do we look to isolate immediately any Harm done and look to alienate them? We have consented to the Risk Profile when booking venues and organising staff - yet the weight of managing the risk lies solely on those it would impact.
Individualising Safeguarding teams holds those involved at a lower standard than those they are monitoring. People are asked to accept an authority system that cannot police its own - it creates a hierarchical reporting system with those gaining the most, facing the least.
Pairing support to the Safeguarding Staff within Queer and Kink Communities, with educated external bodies, is the most trauma informed result we can ask for after harm. Medical Equipment, detaining violent individuals, offer financial and housing support, are all inaccessible to us.
There is a large lack of resources for Governmental and Charitable Bodies that are related to this community. It is vital for us to rely upon NHS branches, Law Agencies and Social Work when the harm expands outside of what we can manage within our communities. Eden Welfare is here to educate, provide guidance and prepare Organisations for incidents that may involve people from our community.
There are a multitude of avenues that Eden offers towards organisations. The way in which we are supporting the education of governmental bodies is a completely different approach from how we educate smaller Queer parties with limited disposable income.
Neurodiverse friendly training regarding kink safety along with culture specific risk factors and how they can be influenced by internal bias.
Focusing on both generalised learning and space specific knowledge. Discussion and paperwork based reform
schemes regarding management of substance misuse, assault and safeguarding concerns will be available to those who's staff has undergone training.
With London based counsellors consulting and contributing to the pathways, we are looking at pinning down a route to properly support our communities after harm.
Team Management, designation of roles and developed scheduling to minimise potential risk.
Allowing and promoting approrpiate response and defensible decision making.
Furthering compliance and confidence within spheres that look at minimal support.
Adapting our training courses to a broader audience allows for accessibility outside of our own community. Governmental agencies, charities etc., are in drastic need of education regarding kink, polyamory and ethical practices, which benefits duty of care requirements.
